Québec home EV charger rebate
The Government of Québec’s Écorecharge program pays $600 toward buying a Level 2 home charger. We install chargers in Laval, on the North Shore and in Montréal; here is what to know before you order yours.
How much is the rebate?
$600 per electric vehicle, toward buying a new, connected Level 2 charger on the eligible list. The charger must have cost at least $600 before taxes. The Écorecharge program has been in effect since March 17, 2026.
Since April 1, 2026, only connected chargers qualify; the date on the purchase invoice is what counts. The amount covers the charger’s price only: installation, wiring, accessories and taxes are not eligible.
In short
- $600 toward the charger’s purchase
- Level 2 charger (208 or 240 V), new and connected

Who qualifies?
The owner or long-term lessee of a fully electric or plug-in hybrid vehicle, new or used, who lives in Québec. The charger goes at their principal or secondary home: a detached, row or semi-detached house, or a duplex.

What does a charger cost after the rebate?
With us, an installed Level 2 charger, charger included, starts at $1,495 before taxes. Once the $600 rebate arrives, it costs you about $895 before taxes, or about $1,119 with taxes paid.
| Item | Before taxes | Taxes included |
|---|---|---|
| Charger + standard installation | $1,495 | $1,719 |
| Écorecharge rebate (paid afterwards) | −$600 | −$600 |
| Your net cost | $895 | $1,119 |
“From” price, for a charger 15 m or less from a panel with enough capacity. The rebate isn’t taxed; taxes are paid on the full price.
What if my panel is too small?
With a 100 A service, a charger can overload the panel when the heating, dryer and water heater run at once. There are two fixes: a load controller that shares the capacity, or a 200 A service. We work out the load from your photos.
Panel work isn’t covered by Écorecharge.
200 A service + charger, same visit
$4,795 before taxes, about $4,195 after the rebate.
Is there a municipal rebate on top?
Some cities add their own money for a home charger, and these programs open and close often. Check with your city (Laval, Montréal or your North Shore town) before you buy: some require you to apply before the work.
Common questions.
Is the Tesla Wall Connector eligible?
Only if the exact model is on the list of eligible chargers when you buy it. The list changes; we check the model with you before we install it.
I already bought my charger. Can I still get the rebate?
Yes, if it’s new, on the list, bought on or after January 1, 2024 (excluding February and March 2025) and cost at least $600 before taxes. We give you a fixed price for the installation only.
I live in a condo or a triplex. Is it the same program?
No. Buildings with three or more units fall under Écorecharge’s multi-unit stream, which can pay up to $5,000 toward buying and installing an individual charger. See the multi-unit stream (French).
How long does it take to get paid?
The government doesn’t publish a fixed delay. You track your application online. Apply as soon as the charger is installed and you have your vehicle.
Do I need a permit to install a charger?
The electrical work must be done by an RBQ-licensed contractor, declared and inspected. We handle that, and it’s included in our price.
I lease my car. Do I qualify?
Yes, if it’s a long-term lease. The program is for the owner or long-term lessee of an electric or plug-in hybrid vehicle, new or used.
