100 A to 200 A service upgrade
An electric car, a heat pump, an older house: a 100 A service isn’t enough anymore. We bring your house up to 200 A, handle Hydro-Québec, and the price is set before we start.
200 A electrical service
What we replace, piece by piece.
Outside, the mast and meter base; then the service conductors; inside, the 200 A panel and its breakers. Hydro-Québec disconnects and reconnects; we coordinate all of it.
- 01Mast
- 02Meter base
- 03Service conductors
- 04200 A main breaker
- 05200 A panel
Replacing your electrical panel: two fixed prices.
The price depends on what your house already has. We tell you which one applies from the photo of your meter, before we give you the final price.
Indoor 200 A panel
$2,495
When your mast and meter base can already take 200 A.
- 200 A panel and breakers
- Your existing circuits reconnected
- Grounding
- Disconnection and reconnection with Hydro-Québec
- Work declared and inspected
Full 200 A service
$3,495
When the mast or meter base also needs replacing.
- Everything in the indoor 200 A panel
- New mast, meter base and service conductors
- Full coordination with Hydro-Québec
- Work declared and inspected
- Old materials disposed of
Not included, and priced up front if needed: an underground service, moving the panel, drywall repair. If Hydro-Québec has to work on its network, Hydro-Québec bills its own fees.
What does a 200 A upgrade cost in Québec?
About $2,869 with taxes for the panel alone, $4,018 for the full service. Our cost guide explains what changes the price and why prices online vary so much.
We know Hydro-Québec.
My father worked ten years at Hydro-Québec. A 200 A upgrade needs Hydro-Québec to disconnect and reconnect your service: we make the request, get the site ready for the scheduled day, and keep you posted.
The disconnection date depends on Hydro-Québec. We confirm it to you in writing as soon as we have it.
On the day of the work
- The power is off during the work, usually for one day
- We protect your floors and clean up before we leave
- We test every circuit before we leave
- Your invoice matches the price on your quote
Common questions.
How do I know if I have 100 A or 200 A?
Look at the main breaker at the top of your panel: the number on it (100, 125, 200) is the capacity. Send us a photo and we’ll confirm it.
Do I need 200 A for an EV charger?
Not always. Depending on your usage, a load controller may be enough. We do the calculation and tell you honestly what fits.
My insurer wants my panel replaced. Can you help?
Yes. We replace old panels (fuse panels, or brands insurers refuse) and give you the documents your insurer needs.
I’m planning a heat pump. Where do I start?
With the electrical service: a heat pump needs a dedicated circuit and enough capacity. We can prepare the circuit at the same time as the upgrade.
